Shape Magazine (Apr 2003) For this article on office gossip, the art director wanted a simplified, cropped design and a monochromatic color scheme. After contacting me for the job, she and I brainstormed several different art directions and decided on the above illustration concept. Heart & Soul Magazine (Apr 2003) The Art Director at Heart & Soul asked me to illustrate a kitchen transformed into a classroom, a scene inspired by an incredible story of a mother who homeschooled all three of her sons straight into ivy league schools. New York Press Real Estate Supplement (Mar 12-18, 2003; Vol. 16, No. 11) The art director at New York Press commissioned me to create the cover of a real estate pullout supplement to the paper. We decided on an eclectic mix of architecturally diverse window frames, all impossibly set into the same brick wall. Conducting the research (i.e. driving around in my car and sketching windows) for this creative assignment was a lot of fun. Isthmus Weekly (Jan 24,2003; Vol. 28, No. 4) I created two illustrations for Isthmus' Health and Beauty supplement. The illustration above was for an article on women's reproductive health; the other was on macrobiotic diets. Spa Finder Magazine (Winter Issue 2002) Spa Finder's Art Director commissioned me to create four illustrations for this 6-page feature article on different types of massage. Besides being fun, the assignment was rather enlightening, as I learned about massage techniques that are done in the water, with warm stones, using essential oils, or according to meridians, etc. Fashion Magazine (Winter Issue 2002) This assignment was for an article on making healthy food choices during the holidays. McKay and Associates Advertising (Dec. 2002) I was commissioned to create for an educator who helps families (particularly mothers) with communication issues associated with evolving roles. A challenging aspect of the project was that as a budget consideration, it had to be just two colors. YM Magazine (Dec. 2002) Spot illustration for a beauty tip on honey's use as a beauty product ingredient. Notre Dame Magazine The Art Director at Notre Dame Magazine contacted me to create three illustrations for the "Perspectives" essays in the summer 2002 issue. These final illustrations can be found on the Lifestyle page. Natural Health Magazine I was commissioned to create artwork for the News & Notes section of Natural Health Magazine's April 2002 issue.
